The exhibition

Using the building and its surroundings as a starting point, the castle exhibitions focus on the castle's historical past and the economic history of the Oberaargau region. Photos, videos, multimedia elements, and specially chosen objects shed light on fundamental connections and recount exemplary moments from history, always focusing on the people who lived through the particular period.

The Children's Castle

Under the large hipped roof, an exciting paradise full of adventure awaits younger visitors. An imaginative trail, interesting games, stories to listen to, and a puzzle tour turn history into an adventure. Hidden places invite children to climb and offer plenty of space to move around, let off steam, and go exploring. Doing crafts with their hands, discovering with their eyes, listening with their ears, or experiencing with their whole bodies, the children's castle appeals to all the senses and encourages creativity, curiosity, and a desire to learn in a playful way.

Escape rooms

The escape rooms in Aarwangen Castle give you the opportunity not only to experience the fascination of solving puzzles, but also to take a journey through the castle's history and its interesting past. Locked in authentic rooms full of mysterious details, you dive into an engrossing intrigue: decipher secret messages, search for the necessary tools, and solve mysterious puzzles.

Virtual reality

Imagine the world several centuries ago! Learn all about medieval life at Aarwangen Castle using virtual reality glasses. Action-packed cooperative games, historical sites, and challenging tasks bring history to life in a realistic way: interactive, fun, and unforgettable for younger and older guests. The games can be played by 2 or more people. Recommended age: 12 and older.

Castle Café

In the castle's reception area you’ll find the charming castle café. Here you can enjoy aromatic coffee from a local roaster, sweet treats, and refreshing drinks. Whether you want a relaxing moment after visiting the exhibition, to spend time with friends, or to take a break during a hike, the café is a place where everyone can enjoy themselves, including guests, exhibition visitors, and walkers.

The terrace overlooking the Aare

Behind the castle, the idyllic terrace overlooking the Aare is a great spot to relax. After visiting the exhibition, during a bike ride, or simply for a cosy break, you can enjoy a relaxing moment here, enjoying the sunset with a view over the water.  The limited but exquisite menu offers selected beverages – perfect for an aperitif with friends, a drink for two, or as a lovely end to a special day.

We recommend arriving by public transport. The “Aarwangen Schloss” stop is directly opposite the castle.

A limited number of parking spaces is available at the castle. Coaches can park by arrangement with the castle.
