Grandson Castle

Grandson, VD

Grandson Castle, a medieval fortress on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel with over a thousand years of history, was at the heart of the Burgundian Wars during the Battle of Grandson (1476) between Charles the Bold and the Confederates.

Rebirth of a Fortress

Grandson Castle reopens its doors on 1 April 2026. After 15 years of restoration, discover a thousand-year-old fortress that has been completely transformed: a new museum spread over four floors and 15 galleries, spectacular architecture on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel, and 1,000 years of history to explore.

The reopening will coincide with the 550th anniversary commemorations of the battles of Grandson and Morat. A programme of festivities is planned throughout 2026 to mark these historic events.
