Built in the 17th century as a luxurious rural estate by the patrician von Besenval family, Waldegg Castle has a unique history. On Swiss Castle Day we will bring you on a journey back to the Baroque period.

The lady of the castle, Lady von Besenval, will show you what a normal day looks like for her and will reveal some of her family’s secrets. The conservator will bring you on a tour of the stately rooms and will introduce you to a period during which Solothurn was the place of residence for French ambassadors. Discover how fruit and vegetables were preserved at the time.

A children’s circuit will offer them an opportunity to explore the castle by themselves. Hear a visitor from our partner castle at Heidegg tell the story about the oldest residential building in Canton Lucerne and enjoy the culinary delights at the castle café.
